“Voskhod” ice rink in Gorky Park

The 9th winter season has officially kicked off in Gorky Park. Its landmark event is traditionally the ice rink opening. This year it has been called “Voskhod” after the name of the Soviet Union's spacecraft and which means “sunrise” in Russian.

The visual concept of the ice rink was inspired by space, aspirations for the future, what regarded as main topics of the second half of the 20th century.

The main visual identity elements are stars, planets and satellites. Vivid and as if caught in motion, the letters in the word “voskhod” symbolize the traces left by skates, as well as a flight trajectory. Imagine: you are taking off the ice and floating in space on board the “Voskhod” ship.

“Voskhod”, meaning sunrise, denotes everything new: for us this is a start of a new winter season in the park and, of course, the new 2020 year.

The area of the rink is nearly 20000 sq.m., it may contain up to 6000 people simultaneously.

There are six lounges colored in red, blue, pink and turquoise. Central two-storey pavilion is located by the Main park entrance. You may enjoy a fascinating view, there are also cozy food courts and rentals inside. Three large screens are placed on the pavilion front which broadcast announcements and videos. This season we also offer you a premium service pavilion. The price includes free parking, transfer to the pavilion, skates rentals and hot drinks. Rentals are located in all the pavilions. The pavilion №5 is for the visitors who bring their own skates with. The pavilion №6 suits for the visitors of the children’s skating rink: there are a cloakroom, a lounge zone and a cafe.

A total of 23 food spots will not allow you to stay hungry while skating:8 warm food courts are located at the Central pavilion (2nd floor), 9 – on the Central alley and 6 more – at the “Ochag” (fireplace) zone.

Another place to keep you cheery is the Media point. This glass booth regularly hosts performances, presentations, giveaways, talk-shows and indie music concerts – from electronic music to postpunk: Pompeya, MyHoliday, On the go, Naadia, Gruppa Hmuriy, Cola Koala and many others.

The visitors may not only watch the performances “onstage”, but also just enjoy the music while skating – the sound system broadcast it throughout the ice rink territory. Media point events take place mostly on Friday night and weekends.

The ice rink meets the demands of all the visitors’ categories of all ages.

You may come with your family and skate at the Main ice rink, while kids may also visit a small ice rink (800 sq.m.) with a figure skating school (4-12 years old). The hockey rink hosts tournaments and trainings throughout the winter season.

There are 4 entrances to the ice rink:

  • through the Main entrance Arch,
  • from the Pushkinskaya embankement through pavilion №4,
  • from the Mercato cafe and pavilion №3
  • from Leninsky prospect near the Garage Museum of Contemporary Art.

14 Box offices are located on the right and on the left from the Main entrance and through the ice rink territory. You may also buy tickets online on the park’s website.
