Restoration of Gorky Park Observatory completed

The astronomical pavilion was built in the 1950s. The restoration was launched, as some of the supporting structures needed repairs. This is the first comprehensive restoration of the Observatory in its history.

The main task was to preserve the appearance, interiors and functional purpose of the premises. The specialists strengthened the foundation, restored the stairs, brickwork and floor coverings, painted the facades and treated the dome with anti-corrosion compounds. The brass door handles and hinges have been recreated in the typical for the 50s style.

The Observatory is traditionally closed in winter, but you can admire the appearance of the historic building at any time of the year. It is easy to find the Observatory: enter the park through the Main Entrance Arch and immediately turn right – you will see an alley that leads to a crimson-white circular building.
