Pushkinskaya Embankment

The quay acquired its name in 1937 on the centenary of the death of great Russian poet Alexander Sergeevich Pushkin.

In Soviet times, the quay was a place of active recreation for Muscovites. A tent circus marquee was set up on the quay, there were bathing huts and towers for jumping into the water, swimming and rowing contests were held and (physical culture training programme) GTO tests were taken. On public holidays, whole flotillas of elaborately ornamented ships organized shows on Moscow River – carnivals with flowers and fireworks.
